Program for pilgrims and lovers of romance: according to the legend of the hill of Moses (Mount Horeb in the Bible), or as it is also called Mount Sinai, Moses received the precious tablets of God’s law (10 commandments), and the man who climbed this mountain and meet the dawn, bid farewell to all sins, regardless of what faith a person speaks and what language he speaks.
The height of the mountain is 2285 m above sea level. The ascent begins at night with a hand-held flashlight, hikers climb a gentle serpentine road that goes around the mountain several times and is about 8 kilometers long, the trip takes about 3 hours.
There is also a short path – 3750 steps of the “Stairway of Repentance”, its steps in different parts of the path are laid from stones or carved into the rock, without a fence. The monks climbed this way.
All together overcome the last 750 steps of the “monastic ladder”. Here the two paths join.
There are rest benches and food and drink tents along the entire route.
At the beginning of the ascent, there is only a bottomless dark sky in front of you with huge bright stars, and as the dawn approaches, a bright play of golden colors begins over the mountains, and when the dawn finally gains strength, at the very top it will become clear that this difficult path will not was made in vain. The huge sun rising over the mountains illuminates the nearby rocks, then slowly descends to the sea and incredible views are revealed…
At the solemn moment when the sun appears over the mountains, hikers at the summit stand mesmerized by these landscapes, and pilgrims bow in silent prayer….
